Up this morning about 6 am. Today is our transfer day from the north of England – Hexham , to be exact, to Wicken , a suburb of Cambridge , where we will spend our last week in the U.K. The (incredibly inaccurate, it turns out) estimates for the drive were 4½ hours. Now I know that that doesn’t always necessarily allow quite enough time, but today’s estimate did not take into consideration the fact that it was also a U.K. Bank Holiday. The roads were packed – the rest areas were packed, and I think every camper in the country must have been on the road. Additionally, there were several areas of major road construction, where three lanes were funneled down into one or two for mile after mile … it all adds up, believe me!
